Traditional Western Omelette

🧂 Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup diced cooked ham
  • 2 tbsp diced green bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp diced onion
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt
  • black pepper

📖 Instructions

🥄 Prep the Filling
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced ham, bell pepper, and onion in a small amount of oil or butter until veggies are soft and slightly golden (about 3–4 minutes).
Set aside.

🥣 Whisk the Eggs
In a bowl, whisk the eggs with milk (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
Beat until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy.

🍳 Cook the Omelette
Heat 1 tbsp butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Once butter is melted and slightly bubbling, pour in the egg mixture.
Let the eggs cook undisturbed for 30–60 seconds until the edges start to set.

4. Shape & Fill
Use a spatula to gently push the cooked edges toward the center, letting uncooked egg flow to the sides.
When eggs are mostly set but slightly glossy on top, sprinkle the ham, peppers, onions, and cheese evenly over one half of the omelette.

🥟 Fold & Finish
Carefully fold the omelette in half over the filling.
Let it cook for another 30–60 seconds until the cheese melts and the eggs are fully set.

🔥 Serve Hot
Slide the omelette onto a plate, garnish with extra cheese or herbs if desired, and enjoy immediately!

🥄 Optional Add-Ons
Top with salsa or hot sauce 🌶️
Add chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, or jalapeños
Serve with toast, hash browns, or a simple green salad
