Cornbread

🧂 Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • ⅔ cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil

📖 Instructions

🔥 Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease or spray a 9-inch round cake pan.

🥣 Mix the dry ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir until well combined.

💧 Add the wet ingredients:
To the dry ingredients, stir in the egg, milk, and vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.

🔥 Pour and bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

❄️ Cool and serve:
Allow the cornbread to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with butter, honey, or your favorite toppings!
