Total Time: ~35 minutes

🍋 Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice (and zest, if using).
Mash the berries slightly with a potato masher or fork, leaving some chunks for texture.
🔥 Cook the Jam
Place the saucepan over medium heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 20–25 minutes, stirring often, until thickened.
To test: Place a spoonful on a cold plate—if it wrinkles when you push it, it’s ready.

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Transfer to sterilized jars or containers. Let it cool completely before sealing.
Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
💡 Tips & Variations
Seedless version: Press cooked berries through a mesh sieve before jarring.
Spiced version: Add a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of vanilla extract.
Reduced sugar: You can use less sugar (e.g., 1 cup) for a tarter jam, but it may be thinner and won’t last as long.
