🧂 Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 sugar cube
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 splash of club soda
- ice
- Luxardo cherry
📖 Instructions
💥 Muddle the Base
In a rocks glass, add the sugar cube and bitters.
Add a few drops of water (or a tiny splash of club soda) and muddle until the sugar dissolves.
(if using simple syrup, just stir it in with the bitters.)
🥃 Add Whiskey
Pour in the whiskey and gently stir to combine.
🧊 Add Ice
Add a large ice cube or a few smaller ones. Stir again for 10–15 seconds to chill and slightly dilute.
🌿 Garnish & Serve
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by twisting it over the glass, then drop it in.
Optionally, add a Luxardo cherry for a touch of rich sweetness.
🛠️ Variations & Tips:
Rye vs. Bourbon: Rye gives it a spicier, drier edge; bourbon is smoother and sweeter.
Smoked Old Fashioned? Torch a piece of oak or use a smoking gun before serving.
Feeling fancy? Try flavored bitters (orange, walnut) or infused syrups.
