Orange & Maple Cranberry Sauce

🧂 Ingredients

  • 2 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ¾ cup maple syrup (or 1 cup granulated sugar for a more traditional version)
  • ½ cup water
  • zest of 1 orange
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • Optional: 2 tbsp Grand Marnier or bourbon (for extra depth)

📖 Instructions

🍒 Combine Ingredients:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, maple syrup (or sugar), water, orange juice, zest, cinnamon, and salt.

🔥 Cook Until Berries Pop:
Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook for 10–15 minutes, or until most cranberries have burst and the sauce thickens. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

🍯 Add a Twist (Optional):
Stir in Grand Marnier or bourbon at the end for a grown-up flavor boost.

⏳ Cool & Serve:
Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to serve. It can be made up to 5 days in advance.

🍽️ Tips & Variations:
Add a grated apple or pear for extra texture.
A pinch of ground ginger or clove adds a warm, spiced note.
Want it chunkier? Cook less. Smoother? Mash lightly with a spoon or purée for a silky finish.
